fast food restaurant and various nationally recognised stores.
Norwich The historical “Fine City of Norwich” dates back to Saxon times, though there was a major Roman settlement at Caister St. Edmund. The city grew in prosperity and population and by the early 16th century became the second City of England and remained in pre-eminence until the industrial revolution. The Forum is a wonderful new development, a Millennium Commission project, housing a 21st Century library, museum and restaurants. Norwich continues to undergo redevelopment and renewal and remains the main commercial, entertainment, retail and transport link for the County if not the region. Norwich has two fine cathedrals: the Norman Anglican Cathedral that has the second tallest spire in the country and the Gothic style St Johns Roman Catholic Cathedral. There remain more than 30 churches of various denominations in the city. Norwich also has a Norman Castle whose museum houses a huge range of displays including the largest collection of ceramic teapots in the world.
Norwich is a shoppers’ paradise. Most major stores have an outlet in or around the City along with many specialist and local stores. England’s largest 6-day open market is found in the centre of Norwich with over 200 market stalls selling a huge range of products and services. The Mall, largely underground, is a shopping centre in the shadow of the castle and has multi level shopping and food courts. There are bus services from the City to most towns and villages in the County with coaches to destinations further afield including London, and fast and frequent rail services to London, Cambridge and the rest of the country. The expanding international airport at Norwich has domestic, European and (indirect) International flights. These details must be read in conjunction with our terms and conditions
